Aico colleagues selected for key roles at Fire Industry Association
16 November 2021
SECTOR PROFESSIONALS working at Aico, the home life safety solutions developer, have been selected for key positions at the Fire Industry Association (FIA) following the 2021 FIA Annual General Meeting (AGM). Voted for by FIA members, the appointments will provide a fantastic opportunity for Aico to further support the fire industry.
The FIA, of course, is a not-for-profit membership organisation overseen by a Board and seven Councils. In point of fact, it’s the largest fire protection-focused Trade Association in the UK.
As a major provider of fire safety-centric training, the FIA aims to promote, improve and perfect fire protection methods, devices, services and apparatus.
Given that, as a business, Aico continually strives to promote Best Practice and helps to improve fire safety legislation across the UK, the new positions will be pivotal in achieving the vision mapped out by the business and the FIA.
Paul Cartwright, Aico’s national account manager, has been elected to serve on the FIA’s FIRESA Council, which itself provides vital communication between the Fire and Rescue Services and their suppliers, as well as liaising directly with the Government and other external bodies.
Commenting on the news, Cartwright informed Fire Safety Matters: “I’m delighted and honoured to be joining the FIA’s FIRESA Council. I’m looking forward to working with Council members and representing a diverse group of companies supplying the Fire and Rescue Service.”
In tandem, Aico’s national technical manager Andy Speake, who previously held a position on the FIA’s Fire Detection and Alarms Council, has been re-elected for the role and also been elected to the FIA Board.
“I’m really pleased about, and excited by, the recent results announced at the FIA’s AGM,” observed Speake. “The new appointments on the Councils will provide an opportunity to better serve FIA members as well as the industry as a whole.”
