Aico to highlight domestic fire safety ‘hidden truths’ at The Fire Safety Event
13 February 2025
VITAL INFORMATION on domestic fire safety will be presented by systems developer Aico (which is celebrating its 35th Anniversary of operations) at The Fire Safety Event 2025, the Nineteen Group-organised exhibition which runs from 8-10 April at the NEC in Birmingham.

Aico uses “pioneering new technologies” and offers “high-quality alarms and sensors” developed and manufactured in Ireland. All Aico products meet the current UK standards, with a variety of sensor types designed to guarantee protection for every home.
Promoting Best Practice, engaging communities and creating safer homes through innovation and education are at the heart of the company’s mission.
Gareth Butler, Aico’s relationship manager for Midlands West, is going to deliver a seminar on the importance of domestic fire safety, focusing in particular on the life-saving role of fire alarms. The presentation will cover fire risks, legislation, British Standards and compliance practices, including BS 7671 and BS 5839-6 for fire alarm systems.
Inspections and compliance
Key topics include electricians’ responsibilities, landlords’ obligations and the need for proper electrical inspections for compliance and resident safety. Butler will also outline the role of Aico’s alarms and how they should be applied.
Butler is a dedicated professional armed with 24 years’ worth of experience as an electrical engineer and manager in the electrical industry. Specialising in domestic and commercial works within social housing, he focuses on advancing standards, sharing knowledge and fostering safer environments.
“The Fire Safety Event is the industry’s leading show,” asserted Butler, “where industry experts, technology and training to protect lives and businesses are to the fore. Aico champions fire safety through education and we're proud to support this vital gathering of industry professionals who play a key role in the domain of life safety.”
