Market “responds positively” to introduction of Cerberus Nova fire detectors

SIEMENS SMART Infrastructure has reported a “very positive” market response following the launch of its Cerberus Nova range of fire detectors in the UK back in Q1.

Robert Yates, head of building products for fire safety in the UK, commented: “The trend in fire safety is very much towards cloud connectivity. It’s evident that the market was very ready for a product based on creating data-driven and self-supervising systems that automatically test periodically. This provides a vital contribution towards making buildings smarter and moving increasingly towards human-centric and autonomous structures.”

Importantly, the Siemens Cerberus Nova detectors offer a fully Internet of Things-connected option that enables 24/7 self-checks, real-time monitoring, remote diagnostics and predictive maintenance.

Central to the new range are the Disturbance-Free Testing (DFT) and Smoke Entry Supervision (SES) technologies. DFT runs self-checks around the clock, reducing systems’ potential downtime and the interruptions associated with on-site service visits. SES monitors smoke entry points in real-time, providing instant alerts if detector functionality is compromised and enabling immediate intervention before risks can escalate.

ASAplus technology

Further, the detectors’ ASAplus technology (incorporating multi-wavelength optical and dual thermal detection for distinguishing real fires from deceptive phenomena) minimises false alarms, in turn decreasing unnecessary evacuations.

Yates continued: “We’re seeing a good deal of interest from many different industries, including Data Centres, healthcare facilities, higher education and commercial buildings. Any application, in fact, where the focus around fire safety is not only on reliability, but also on uptime and operational efficiency.”

Attention has been paid to environmental and sustainability challenges. The detectors are made from recycled plastic and carry the Siemens EcoTech environmental product performance label. They also promote environmentally responsible design, resource efficiency and circular economy principles.
