National Security Inspectorate set for debut appearance at The Fire Safety Event

20 March 2023

THE NATIONAL Security Inspectorate (NSI) will be making its exhibitor debut on Stand G55 in Hall 3a at this year’s edition of The Fire Safety Event, which takes place on 25-27 April at the NEC in Birmingham.

Having experienced a significant increase in fire-related certification enquiries, the NSI will run a dedicated hub within The Fire Safety Event where visitors are invited to meet face-to-face with NSI team members in order to learn about how third party certification can enhance their businesses by improving performance and increasing customer satisfaction.

The NSI is licensed by BAFE to conduct fire safety-related assessments on the latter’s behalf, awarding third party certification to compliant providers on a range of competency schemes. Those schemes include:

*Fire Risk Assessment (BAFE SP205)

*Fire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems (BAFE SP203-1)

*Fire Extinguisher Maintenance/Servicing (BAFE SP101)

*Emergency Lighting Systems (BAFE SP203-4)

*Fixed Gaseous Fire Extinguishing Systems (BAFE SP203-3)

*Kitchen Fire Protection Systems (BAFE SP206)

*Evacuation Alert Systems (BAFE SP207)

Organisations selecting the NSI as their certification body for one or more of the BAFE competency schemes listed will, once granted certification – and in addition to BAFE registration = be awarded usage of the coveted NSI Gold or NSI Silver certification logos.

Visitors to The Fire Safety Event will have the opportunity to attend a specially curated programme of educational seminars in which the NSI’s senior operations manager for systems, namely Chris Hayes, will be participating.

Hayes, who leads the NSI’s dedicated team of systems auditors, will be speaking on 25 April at 2.30 pm in the Innovation and Regulation Theatre. The theme of the talk is ‘Fire Risk Assessments and Evacuation Alert Systems – A Certification Body’s Perspective on Demonstrating Competence’. Those attending will find out how becoming third party certificated helps providers to demonstrate due diligence and evidence competency in front of their clients, which is something now increasingly recommended by the Government.

Clear evidence of competency

NSI CEO Richard Fogelman commented: “Having witnessed significant growth in fire-related certification enquiries, we are proud to be bringing our experts to The Fire Safety Event for the first time to meet with companies interested in obtaining third party certification. BAFE registration, together with the NSI’s hallmark of excellence, provides clear evidence of organisational competency and represents the best level of quality fire safety service providers can achieve.”

Fogelman continued: “The Fire Safety Event also provides a valuable opportunity for our team members to meet face-to-face with the buyers of fire safety services, for whom third party certification is an important consideration. Given that The Fire Safety Event is co-located with The Security Event where, as an official Event Partner, we will also have a significant presence, visitors will have two touchpoints at the NEC through which to connect with us.”

The NSI lists premium local fire safety and security solution providers as well as UK national providers among its 2,000-plus clients. The UKAS-accredited certification body delivers a robust and continuous audit programme for solution providers to determine their compliance against British and European Standards, relevant industry Codes of Practice and current legislation, in turn contributing towards the raising of standards for the industry and buyers alike.
