Dartford MP officially opens factory extension at Kentec Electronics

04 October 2021

DARTFORD MP Gareth Johnson has officially opened a new extension for Kentec Electronics, the manufacturer of life-critical fire control systems, thereby enabling the business to expand its manufacturing, dispatch and stores capability by upwards of 30%.

The extension not only enhances Kentec’s core production capabilities, but also adds further capability to its ‘Specials’ Department for the production and delivery of niche and complex solutions, such as those delivered to enhance fire safety for historic buildings.

Kevin Swann (managing director of Kentec) and Hiroshi Kamei, the company’s finance director, met with Johnson to give the Conservative MP a tour of the factory and also to discuss how the factory extension is helping Kentec’s business to grow and better answer the needs of its customers. A plaque was put up in the factory to honour the day.

Johnson is thrilled to witness Kentec’s achievements. He stated: “Kentec has grown considerably over the last 35 years to become one of Dartford’s Top 10 employers. It’s fantastic to see how the new production space is furthering the company’s business goals. There’s no doubt that Kentec is one of the big success stories of the area.”

Kevin Swann was honoured to welcome Gareth Johnson. “I was particularly pleased that Gareth took the time to talk to many of our great people on the tour and showed a real interest in their work and lives,” enthused Swann. “We are very proud of our accomplishments and excited to showcase the new factory extension. It was an excellent day that has given the whole team encouragement. It’s also confirmation that efforts have been very much worthwhile.”

The official opening followed a virtual launch that took place in July 2020.
