FireQual seeks additional members for duo of Steering Groups
05 August 2024
FIREQUAL – THE specialist Awarding Organisation for the fire sector providing nationally recognised Ofqual and SQA regulated qualifications – is seeking up to ten additional members for both its Fire Detection and Alarm Qualification Steering Group and its Fire Door Installers (Timber) Qualification Steering Group to help oversee and monitor qualifications in these sectors.

In the case of the former, alongside reviewing relevant accredited training and Continuing Professional Development options, the Steering Group will offer suggestions for advancement and development of FireQual’s dedicated fire detection and alarm qualifications. For the latter, the focus is on fire doors installers (timber) qualifications.
FireQual is looking for members with experience of – and a keen interest in – the fire detection and alarm sector who understand the importance of quality and compliance with third party certification, regulatory standards and what’s required to evidence the aforementioned.
Further details of the scope of the Fire Detection and Alarm Qualification Steering Group, complete with time requirements, etc, can be found in the Steering Group’s agreed Terms of Reference (available on request).
These positions are unpaid. The expectation is that there will be a Steering Group meeting at least three times per annum, with all such meetings conducted via video conference calls.
The same parameters apply to the Fire Door Installers (Timber) Qualification Steering Group.
How to apply
Practitioners who are interested in applying for one of these roles should send a covering e-mail summarising why they would like to join (the submission should be less than 800 words) and an up-to-date CV to [email protected] by the deadline of 9.00 am on 21 August, marking their communication for the attention of the Fire Detection and Alarm Qualification Steering Group or the Fire Door Installers (Timber) Qualification Steering Group.
In essence, applicants should outline the ideas, skills and experience they believe they can bring to the role. FireQual will then review the expressions of interest received before confirming appointments to the Steering Groups.
