FireHawk showcases fire and CO controller at Fire Safety Matters Live Manchester
06 October 2026
FIREHAWK SAFETY Products – the specialist fire and carbon monoxide alarm systems manufacturer whose products are supplied to more than 75% of UK Fire and Rescue Services – showcased its new mains-powered control switch complete with built-in relay at Fire Safety Matters Live Manchester 2026, which ran on 1 October at the Emirates Old Trafford Stadium.

Designed to simplify the testing and control of interconnected alarm systems, the fire and carbon monoxide (CO) controller with relay (designated FHN-THR) provides a single point from which installers and end users can test, hush and locate Firehawk’s range of smoke and CO alarms.
The FHN-THR also incorporates a relay capable of connection to external devices such as addressable control panels, remote Warden Call systems and door releases, while a rechargeable lithium back-up battery allows continued operation in the event of a mains power failure scenario.
Most mains-powered relays are installed as a base under the smoke alarm. From the alarm, the installer then needs to connect to whatever they may be switching. The FHN-THR incorporates the relay within the controller itself, allowing it to be installed in a more convenient location within the property, which serves to simplify the installation process. This can be particularly useful in larger properties, for multi-alarm installations and at those locations where individual alarms are installed on several floors.
For installers carrying out commissioning and routine maintenance work, the unit’s Walk Test Mode is designed to simplify system testing by allowing one person to confirm alarm operation across the installation.
The controller can also form part of FireHawk’s RF-Link interconnected range. When hardwired to a compatible FireHawk mains alarm fitted with the FHN600RF module, the FHN-THR can be integrated into an RF-Link system, combining mains-powered alarm technology with wireless interconnection.
Supporting installers
Visitors to the FireHawk stand at Fire Safety Matters Live Manchester were able to witness the fire and CO controller with relay first-hand and discuss its installation and application with the company’s regional sales managers.
On the day, Firehawk Safety Products also showcased its wider portfolio of domestic fire and CO detection products, including the mains-powered and battery alarm ranges, RF-Link interconnected technology and dedicated fire and CO detection solutions for individuals who are deaf or otherwise hard of hearing.
The new fire and CO controller complete with relay has been made available through electrical distributors nationwide.
James Cavan, national sales manager at FireHawk, explained: “We developed a unique and innovative fire and CO controller with relay to make that process simpler, bringing Test, Hush and Walk Test functionality together at one accessible point. For those installations where relay functionality isn’t required, the controller is also available without the relay. It’s a straightforward addition to an installation, but one that can make a genuine difference when systems are being commissioned, tested or maintained.”
Cavan continued: “At FireHawk, our focus is very much on developing products that work for the people specifying, installing and maintaining fire safety systems every day. Fire Safety Matters Live Manchester gave us the opportunity to demonstrate the new fire and CO controller with relay directly to the industry and, importantly. Importantly, we were able to hear from installers and specifiers about the challenges they’re encountering on-site.”

Fire Safety Matters Live Manchester 2026 was a free-to-attend event combining the CPD-accredited and hugely popular Fire Safety Matters Live Conference Programme with an exhibition featuring upwards of 65 dedicated fire safety systems and solutions providers. Over 800 delegates were in attendance.
