Fike introduces Small Space Suppression system to UK fire market
11 July 2022
FIKE CORPORATION, the global manufacturer and supplier of fire protection systems, has just launched its Small Space Suppression solution. This new technology uses a flexible pneumatic tube, which is strategically routed through small applications to detect and suppress fires at their source using 3M Novec 1230 fire protection fluid.

“We’re excited to add Small Space Suppression to our comprehensive line of fire protection products,” enthused Amos Leap, Fike’s fire suppression product manager. “This new system ensures that hard-to-reach assets are protected on a 24/7 basis and back up by unmatched customer service and technical support.”
Fike Small Space Suppression comes in two configurations: direct and indirect. The direct system is engineered for electrical cabinets as heat-reactive tubing is routed through the confined space. Any fires in the space will melt a hole in the tubing, which is pressurised with nitrogen and will open the suppression cylinder. An agent will then be released from the hole and directly on to the fire.
The indirect system is designed for CNC machines and uses the heat-reactive tubing for activation. However, rather than the agent flowing through the hole in the tubing, the agent will flow through UL-listed suppression nozzles for 3MTM Novec 1230.
The system is available in 1 kg, 2 kg, 4 kg, 6 kg, 9 kg and 18 kg cylinders to ensure the most cost-effective size is selected for each application. Each cylinder comes fitted with a proprietary valve designed specifically for Fike Small Space Suppression. The ball valve is integrated into a stainless steel body to reliably deliver agent into the tubing network and prevent leaks.
Fike manufactures industrial safety products that protect people and organisations from pressure-related explosions, combustible dust explosions and industrial fire hazards. Using internal product development, scientific research and testing and validation capabilities, Fike develops application-specific solutions consistent with (or exceeding) the world’s standards and regulations.
