Britannia Fire’s Andy Spence re-elected to FIA Board
11 November 2025
ANDY SPENCE, joint managing director of Norfolk-based fire extinguisher manufacturer Britannia Fire, has been re-elected to the Board of the Fire Industry Association (FIA) for a third successive term.

The FIA, of course, is the largest fire safety-focused Trade Association in Europe and currently represents more than 1,200 UK member companies. The organisation plays a vital role in the delivery of training, while also imparting technical expertise and offering guidance on standards in order to help shape the fire safety sector’s progression.
With 25 years of operational experience in the fire safety industry, Andy Spence has served on the FIA’s Extinguishing Council and Export Council for more than a decade now and sits on the British Standards Institution’s FSH/2 Technical Committee focused on fire extinguishers, where he contributes to the development of UK fire safety standards.
Earlier this year, Spence addressed the Environmental Audit Committee in the House of Commons to highlight the significant challenges facing the industry in achieving a smooth transition away from PFAS-based firefighting foams.
A strong advocate for innovation and environmental responsibility, Spence has been instrumental in driving forward meaningful progress in safety, quality and sustainability across the sector.
Improving standards
Commenting on his re-election to the FIA’s Board, Spence noted: “Across the years, it has been a privilege to contribute towards the fire safety industry’s development. I’m immensely grateful to the FIA’s members for re-electing me to the Board. A great deal of progress has been made in terms of improving standards and embracing new technology, but there’s still much work to be done. I’m honoured to continue working with the FIA and its members so that we can help to build a safer and more sustainable future.”
Established back in 1970, Britannia Fire is dedicated to designing and manufacturing high-quality fire extinguishers. The company’s P50 composite range offers a multi-purpose, corrosion-resistant alternative to traditional metal extinguishers. PFAS free, fully recyclable and with a 20-year lifespan, P50 fire extinguishers help customers to meet their sustainability targets.
