Fire blankets achieve certification

13 March 2020

Jactone is said to be the first company in the world to have its fire blankets achieve certification to BS EN 1869:2019, the latest revision of the European Standard for Fire Blankets.

Jactone Products MD Craig Halford says: "Where possible, Jactone always strive to set a benchmark with its product certification. Therefore this recent milestone is particularly pleasing for a product area in which Jactone are historically well known across the world."

The new revision includes some important changes and for the first time assesses the performance of fire blankets against both cooking oil fires (as previously tested) and flammable liquid fires. Testing to both types of fire gives the fire blankets multi-purpose use. Achieving the certification has taken many months of close co-operation with certification body LPCB and the production of the fire blankets to the newly certified status is now taking place.

Following the certification to the new standard Jactone has a new size of fire blanket available. The 1.8m x 1.75m Fire Blanket is available in its signature Jacpack range. The new 1.8m x 1.75m fire blanket is for use on cooking oil and flammable liquid fires and clothing fires.

Jactone JT510 Fire Blankets are manufactured in Jactone's purpose built facility in the heart of the UK. They are constructed from a 3-ply material to produce an unblemished safety record, establishing Jactone as the market leader of BS EN European Standard certified fire blankets. Jactone JT510 Fire Blankets are available in 3 models: The Jacpack, the Flat Pack and the Square Pack.
