EN 54-22 approved solution

17 March 2020

Thermocable has launched its new EN 54-22 resettable line-type heat detector, ProReact EN Analogue.

The EN 54-22:2015 Resettable line-type heat detectors standard specifies the requirements and performance criteria for analogue (resettable) line-type heat detectors within Europe. In the past, some line-type heat detectors were approved in line with EN 54-5 Point Heat Detectors, but this practice has ceased in light of the introduction of EN 54-22:2015.

The ProReact EN Analogue range has recently gained VdS approval (certificate number: G 220006) establishing it as a market leading linear heat detector, critical for it to be used as part of an EN 54 fire alarm system throughout Europe and beyond. Until now, no other 4-core analogue line-type heat detector has been approved to EN 54-22.

Approved as a Class A1I, A2I and BI heat detector, ProReact EN Analogue is well qualified to be used in a wide variety of applications and areas with ceiling heights up-to 9m (30ft), while remaining cost-effective and simple to install. Such applications include car parks, manufacturing plants, warehouses and cable trays.

Each approved system comprises of:

  • ProReact Composite Control Unit
  • ProReact EN Analogue End-of-line Unit
  • ProReact EN Analogue PVC Coated Sensor Cable
  • ProReact EN Analogue Junction Box (Optional)

Each system can accommodate up to 500 metres of ProReact EN Analogue PVC Coated Sensor Cable enabling an individual system to provide suitable coverage over a large area.

The ProReact Composite Control Unit has a wide range of available alarm temperatures to suit different applications and ambient temperatures. Its Pre-Alarm functionality also offers early notification of an unexpected rise in temperature before a chosen alarm temperature is reached. Furthermore, the system is restorable following an alarm providing the ProReact EN Analogue PVC Coated Sensor Cable is not exposed to temperatures above 125⁰C.

The ProReact EN Analogue LHD system can be interfaced to an addressable loop using a zone or switch monitor or an input/output module. Alternatively, it can be directly connected to the initiating zone of any conventional fire alarm control panel.

The ProReact EN Analogue range further complements Thermocable's recently launched range of EN 54-28 certified non-resettable line type-heat detectors, ProReact EN Digital.
