Kentec set to demonstrate Taktis and K-Mesh systems at FIREX International

15 May 2023

KENTEC ELECTRONICS, the specialist manufacturer of life-critical control systems, is set to showcase its latest solutions at FIREX International 2023 (which runs at London’s ExCeL from 16-18 May). The business will highlight the capabilities of its award-winning flagship Taktis control panel and those of the K-Mesh wireless fire detection system.

Indeed, the K-Mesh system will take centre stage, with Kentec’s representatives showcasing how its self-healing and configuring MESH technology delivers optimum levels of reliability alongside ease of installation, appealing aesthetics and advanced networking capabilities.

Wireless signals benefit from a live automatic transfer across multiple avenues of transmission and communication, meaning that safety is enhanced through an ‘always-on’ protocol. The system further benefits from a ten-year battery life, which is a major progression from the industry’s previous three-year standard.

K-Mesh’s wireless capabilities will be demonstrated through video content featuring the Solihull Community Housing Case Study. This is set to become the UK’s largest community housing wireless fire safety installation.

Installed by Early Birds Fire Protection, the system comprises some 4,000 sensors linked to a combination of Kentec’s Taktis and Syncro AS control panels. The installation encompasses 2,000 apartments in 37 high-rise towers, all monitored from one central location.

Taktis and Sigma XT

As the company’s flagship fire control panel, Taktis will play a significant role on Kentec’s stand and in industry discussions. Available in up to 16 loops, it provides up to 144 zone indications and supports upwards of 2,000 detection devices.

Taktis is capable of networking up to 127 panels, making it ideal for larger projects such as the aforementioned Solihull Community Housing installation programme, as well as schools, hospitals, multi-site retail/supermarkets, critical infrastructure and major commercial and industrial facilities.

Another key element on display at Kentec’s stand, and one which build on the Sigma XT system’s success, the Sigma ZXT provides additional features, controls and indications for a single-area extinguishing release system, enabling targeted extinguishing that limits damage and reduces costs.

Three conventional detection zones provide the alarm ‘trigger’ required to activate the release of extinguishant, while the system can be configured to release the extinguishant on an alarm from any single zone or otherwise a combination of multiple zones.

Also on the stand will be the Evac-Point evacuation system, itself a vital aid in the safe evacuation of residents from high-rise buildings. The system provides a means for Fire and Rescue Service personnel to activate audio and visual devices and instruct on safe routes.

Kentec Installation Partners

Derrick Hall, director of sales at Kentec, stated: “FIREX International will be another opportunity for us to highlight how important the Kentec Installation Partner programme is in terms of helping to enable complex and large-scale fire safety installations such as that for Solihull Community Housing.”

Hall added: “We are looking forward to showcasing Kentec’s life-critical technologies and, through video content, demonstrating the training and support benefits for those companies who become a Kentec Installation Partner. Our close relationship with Early Birds, generated through the Kentec Installation Partner programme, has helped to ensure that the sophisticated capabilities of the technologies employed have been fully optimised.”
