Occupant safety enhanced thanks to Morley-IAS Max fire detection and alarm system
22 May 2023
HONEYWELL HAS announced the launch of the Morley-IAS Max fire detection and alarm system that’s designed to help improve building and occupant safety. The compact, powerful, performance-driven intelligent fire alarm control panel offers installers and end users a technically advanced range of functions in a system that’s easy to install, commission and maintain.

The system features an advanced seven-inch touch screen panel, providing a highly intuitive and ergonomic user interface. The panel displays colour-coded events and graphical icons. It boasts cutting-edge technologies such as multi-Boolean logic and CAN bus protocol between panels, in turn helping to enable faster communication.
“Honeywell’s Morley-IAS Max panel helps to create safer spaces for building occupants, while also enabling building owners to better adhere to standard safety guidelines,” explained Lionel Caillat, general manager and vice-president of fire systems for Honeywell Europe.
Caillat added: “The product is designed to eliminate the time-consuming and technically difficult installation of add-on components. It communicates clearly and unambiguously and efficiently manages complicated evacuation strategies in the event of an emergency scenario.”
Vertical sector applications
Morley-IAS Max is well suited for operation in various verticals such as the commercial, education, healthcare, residential and hospitality sectors. Its full backward compatibility makes it well suited for retrofit projects as it supports a range of field devices, including third party manufacturer devices. The aesthetically pleasing panel delivers high-quality design in commercial or luxury environments.
The system incorporates serial communication ports, relays and CAN bus network to help reduce complexities typically encountered during ordering and installation. The panels offer multiple installation options in addition to standard wall mounting and flush mounting.
Full site upgrade
The National Library of Wales, the largest library in the country, recently completed a full site upgrade using Morley-IAS Max, which brought the site up to an L1 type fire alarm system.
As the site was fitted with older technology from a previous supplier, the upgraded fire system required the installation of new System Sensor hard-wired equipment and Agile radio equipment. The backwards compatibility of Morley-IAS Max could fully interface with its existing smoke beams and aspirating smoke detection systems, saving the National Library of Wales money and time on the installation.
The Morley-IAS Max panel is tested and certified in compliance with EN 54-2 and EN 54-4 standards.
