Fire Safety Matters shortlisted in four categories for 2023 PPA IP Awards
16 October 2023
FIRE SAFETY Matters – one of publisher Western Business Media’s strong collective of sector-leading journals – has been named as a shortlisted finalist in no fewer than four categories for the 2023 Independent Publisher Awards organised by the PPA.
The magazine is shortlisted for Business Publication of the Year, Media Brand of the Year, Commercial Partnership of the Year (for the partnership forged with the Fire Industry Association to produce the FIA Guide to the UK Fire Safety Industry 2022-2023) and Event of the Year. The latter recognises the inaugural edition of Fire Safety Matters Live, which ran at the CBS Arena in Coventry back in June on the day of the Fire and Security Matters Awards 2023.
Brian Sims BA (Hons) FSyI, Editor of Fire Safety Matters and its sister title Security Matters, commented: “Thank You so much to all of our advertisers and commercial partners, our contributors and, of course, our highly valued and loyal readers for your continued support. It’s really appreciated!”
Sims added: “Massive congratulations to all of my colleagues who work on the title and to Mark Sennett, Keith Gabriel and Danny Kosifou, the directors of the business, who are always 100% supportive of everything that we do to make this magazine precisely what it is: the ‘must-read’ title for the fire sector.”
Ten nominations
The fantastic news doesn’t end there. Western Business Media has been named a shortlisted finalists in its own right as a company, while several of the publisher’s other business-to-business (B2B) magazines have also been named as finalists for the 2023 PPA Independent Publisher Awards.
*Western Business Media: Independent Publishing Company of the Year
*Western Business Media Sales Team: Team of the Year
*Health and Safety Matters: Media Brand of the Year
*Health and Safety Matters/British Safety Industry Federation Guide to the UK Safety & Health Industry: Commercial Partnership of the Year
*The Safety & Health Excellence Awards: Event of the Year
*Logistics Matters: Relaunch of the Year
Across the piece, that’s a total of ten nominations for Western Business Media and several of its magazines.
Western Business Media publishes seven B2B titles, holds nine live events per annum, runs multiple webinars and podcasts as well as multiple awards ceremonies and also provides dedicated contract publishing services.
In addition to Fire Safety Matters, Security Matters, Health and Safety Matters and Logistics Matters, Western Business Media also publishes Controls, Drives and Automation, Industrial Plant and Equipment and Cleaning Matters.
Prestigious awards
Western Business Media, in fact, has now been shortlisted for 36 industry awards in the past four years and has won three during this period.
CEO Mark Sennett (who founded Fire Safety Matters magazine) commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to have all ten of our entries shortlisted for these prestigious industry awards. We have been fortunate enough to win categories at the PPA’s Independent Publisher Awards for the last two years in a row.”
Sennett continued: “It’s a real honour to be recognised by our peers. Thank You so much to the PPA and the Judges. This outcome is testament to our staff who work so hard to create the highest quality content and events. I would also like to thank our partners, clients and also our collective audience as we couldn’t do what we do without you.”
